Boston's Newest Visitor: Sienna Spiro

Breakout star and vocal powerhouse Sienna Spiro stopped by Brighton Music Hall on March 14th as part of The Visitor Tour. Fans camped outside the venue to get the best spots for the sold-out show. At doors, fans were transported to Spiro's dreamy swinging '60s world: an orange circular shag carpet, orange velvet curtains, and a wooden grand piano sat atop the stage. At 8 pm sharp, the lights dimmed, and the singer stepped onto the stage, showcasing how effortlessly she blends eras in a striped vintage Versace dress, bold eyeliner, and a bouffant hairstyle.

She opened with the warm track, "My House," welcoming Boston to the special night ahead. She made an effort to make every spot in the house the best, walking to the side to sing to fans who were standing behind the stage. She switched between singing in the center of the room, spotlighted by a warm orange light, and sitting atop the grand piano for emotional ballads. During the track "Need Me," Spiro held her mic out to the crowd for the final chorus, surprised by their enthusiasm. She turned to her pianist and exchanged a glance of disbelief, smiling and laughing in awe of how loud the crowd was. Spiro revealed it was her first time in Boston, and she didn’t know what to expect, but she confidently declared this was her loudest crowd yet.

Spiro just released her latest single, "The Visitor," the night before the show. She paused before the song to give fans a peek behind the curtain at her writing process. Spiro revealed that she created nine renditions of the song before finally writing a version of "The Visitor" that she wanted to release. For her, the song is about all types of relationships and feeling like a visitor in people's lives. She got vulnerable and revealed that she grapples with being scared of people leaving, and how "debilitating" it can be to face that fear. These moments brought her closer to the crowd, who she urged to embrace the track "however it fits into your life." Fans felt that bond and already knew every single world.

Toward the middle of the set, she celebrated the sweet sixteen of a pair of twins in the audience, Declan and Mirin, leading the venue in singing Happy Birthday. She sprinkled in a sentimental unreleased track titled "You & Me," hinting a larger project in the future is in the works. Her resonant, soulful voice mesmerized Boston, as if she were singing directly to you in a crowd of hundreds. She closed the night with her viral hit "Die On This Hill," taking out her earpiece to hear the crowd, who almost sang so loud that they drowned out the speakers. While the venue might have a capacity of around 500 guests, Boston delivered the passion and love Spiro poured into her performance tenfold. Spiro is sure to be in arenas soon, so make sure to catch her live before The Visitor Tour ends in May. Buy tickets here.
