Heading up Route 128 toward Gloucester, the coffee options thin out and the last bastion of really good coffee is an oasis that sits just off Exit 45 in Beverly, called Rebel Coffee and Creamery. A small company on the rise, its sister café is located in Danvers. The coffee culture is high in this roadside establishment. They have a unique array of original coffee drinks. I don’t usually venture off the traditional path but the M.J. Deluxe (espresso, steamed milk, dark chocolate, cream of coconut, malt) is definitely worth a shot.

Their coffee is roasted in house to create a unique captivating signature profile. Enjoy a cup in a pleasant ambiance supported by mellow café music and complimented by the always friendly staff. The food component also packs a punch with diverse sandwiches, both breakfast and lunch, combined with pastries all made in their own kitchen. Next time you find yourself heading North, make a point to hit this mini-paradise on your way. You will not be sorry.
