Supporting Creative Talent and Celebrating Artistry Since 2015
Following Boston is a collective of creative professionals dedicated to nurturing local talent and producing compelling digital content that connects audiences around the world. What began as a small passion project has evolved into a powerhouse of visual storytelling, collaboration, and community.
At its heart, Following Boston was built to give photographers, filmmakers, and media creators a platform to share their craft—and to help them take their creativity to the next level. Over the past decade, the collective has played a role in shaping the careers of countless artists, while capturing defining cultural moments for major brands and institutions.
Our Story
Producer Michael Kalish launched Following Boston alongside an original documentary series featuring 20 short films spotlighting Boston photographers—including Kevin O’Leary (“Mr. Wonderful”) from Shark Tank.
Following Boston also had the honor of providing coverage for President Barack Obama during INBOUND’s keynote event—solidifying its reputation as one of Boston’s most dynamic creative collectives.
From there, the team’s creative reach expanded quickly, with projects spanning live events, branded storytelling, and media coverage for some of the world’s most recognizable names:
The Grammy Awards
Harvard University
HBO
Leica Camera USA
Live Nation
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Boston
Marvel Entertainment
MGM Music Hall
Following Backstage
In 2019, the team introduced Following Backstage, a platform dedicated to live event photography and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
The portfolio features standout performances from Boston Calling Music Festival headliners like Ed Sheeran, Tyler Childers, and The Killers, as well as exclusive interviews with Jason Bateman, Jennifer Garner, and Mila Kunis in partnership with Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals.
A Creative Community with Purpose
For founder Michael Kalish, the mission extends beyond content creation—it’s building a movement that empowers artists.
“This journey has always been about giving local creatives a platform to showcase their talents while connecting them to global opportunities,” says Kalish. “We’re proud to have built a space where creativity flourishes.”
As Following Boston reaches its ten-year milestone, its focus remains clear: to celebrate artistry, amplify local voices, and continue shaping the future of creative media.
