The Hives Forever In Boston

The Hives Forever In Boston

Legendary rockstars The Hives stopped by Boston's House of Blues on March 20th for a celebratory night of live music. First up was Australian punk rock band The Chats, who got everyone on their feet and set the high-energy tone for the night. Songs like "The Price of Smokes" and a surprise appearance by Paul Caporino, frontman of the band M.O.T.O., had crowd surfers and mosh pits raging the whole set. They ended their set with "Pub Feed," jumping around the stage as if it were the first track of the night, a testament to their stamina.

Soon after, the lights dimmed and the glowing lanterns on the stage spelling "HIVES" lit up. Fans released thunderous cheers as the five-piece band strutted onto the stage in crisp black suits with yellow-glowing piping. The electric track "Enough Is Enough" started blaring through the speakers as frontman Pelle Almqvist jumped across the stage and howled the lyrics. The band radiated energy off one another, artfully dancing across the stage and around Almqvist, who joyfully swung the microphone around. The band spent their set getting involved with the crowd and staying as close to the fans as possible. First, guitarist Niklas Almqvist dipped down to the barricade and crowdsurfed on his back while effortlessly shredding his electric. Their collective stage presence mesmerized the audience. Boston devoured every ounce of energy and returned it tenfold, jumping the entire set and screaming along to tracks on their latest album like "Born a Rebel" and "Roll Out the Red Carpet," certifying them as instant classics.

Pelle paused between songs to rally the troops, sharing how much the band loved Boston. He held his hand to his ear and extended the mic as fans cheered for minutes on end. He revealed that throughout this tour, they kept asking their team when the Boston date would finally arrive, and now that it did, it was time to "perspirate and participate" as fans cheered and united through the music. They closed out the night with the album's title track, "The Hives Forever Forever The Hives," leaving only sweat and once-in-a-lifetime memories behind. Make sure to catch The Hives live before their tour ends in September. Buy tickets here.
