American indie-folk songstress Annabella Dinda stopped by Boston's Brighton Music Hall on May 5th for a sold-out show. At 8:30 pm sharp, Dinda skipped out from behind the curtain, jumping with excitement and waving to the crowd. She wore a brown maxi skirt and a flowy coral top with scalloped lace trim, complementing her bouncy brown curls. Dinda revealed it was her first tour, and she was excited to be in the city, eliciting fervent cheers. The singer dove into her comprehensive setlist, which included fan favorites, deep cuts, and playing almost every track from her latest album, Some Things Never Leave. Tracks like "Big News Day" and "Satellites" showcased her knack for crafting relatable, clever, and cathartic songs. Having a room of people scream "God, people are boring" and "You put me into space, then hate me when I ask for it," felt like a much-needed release. She smiled ear to ear as her raw, passionate voice kept the crowd hanging on every note. She effortlessly weaved between high-energy tracks and intimate vulnerability, with fans singing the loudest during a performance of her 2024 track "Pleaser."
She saved her viral hit "The Hand" for the end of the night, a song which has garnered her cosigns from artists like FINNEAS. The track is a brilliant exploration of the female experience and depiction of women in media. Her sweet, aching voice mesmerized the venue and left everyone with chills. Dinda will be back in July, opening for Noah Kahan at his historic run of four sold-out nights at Fenway Park. Her North American mini tour ends on May 17th. Buy tickets here.
