It was a warm, humid Wednesday night at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, and as the sun went down a relatively cool breeze rolled through the venue. The stage darkened and anticipation built for M. Shadows and Avenged Sevenfold to take the stage. Fans switched on the strobe effect on their cellphones, turning the center into a glowing field of light. The iconic chords of “Nightmare” rang out and the crowd erupted as silhouettes stepped into place on the stage.

Fans were amped as the band wasted no time diving into their hits. They highlighted several songs from City of Evil, Nightmare and more. The setlist featured “Magic,” “Afterlife,” “Shepherd of Fire,” “Buried Alive,” and “Seize the Day.” When the first few chords of “Hail to the King” hit, the entire venue erupted and screamed every verse, creating a moment where it felt like everyone was locked in together. They continued with “Nobody,” “M.I.A.” (which was absolutely epic), “Bat Country,” “Unholy Confessions,” and “Cosmic.”

Good Charlotte opened for AX7, and it felt less like an opening act and more like its own full, incredible concert. They came out swinging with “The Anthem” and “Girls & Boys." They closed with “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous,” a perfect finish that sent them out on a high note.
