Ethan Hawke to Receive 2025 Coolidge Award

New England landmark and Brookline staple, The Coolidge Corner Theatre, will honor legendary actor, filmmaker, producer, and author Ethan Hawke with The Coolidge Award on December 3. The award celebrates his extraordinary contributions to film and culture. Hawke's four-decade career has earned him four Academy Award nominations, a Tony Award nomination, multiple bestselling novels, and an enduring legacy in cinema. Along with his work at Under the Influence Productions, which he founded with his wife, Uma Thurman, and producing partner Ryan Hawke, Hawke's career cements him as a singular creative and distinctive voice, pursuing roles and projects that continue to defy expectations and champion creativity.

Launched over 20 years ago, The Coolidge Award recognizes artists whose work has created a lasting impact on film history. Hawke will join a prestigious list of past incomparable honorees, including Meryl Streep, Francis Ford Coppola, Werner Herzog, Jane Fonda, and more. This event is a fundraiser for the Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation, a nonprofit supporting mission-driven film programs and pro bono initiatives dedicated to educating youth.

Hawke will first introduce and participate in a Q&A following a screening of his latest film, Blue Moon, in which he delivers a career-defining performance as lyricist Lorenz Hart. After a moderated conversation onstage in the theater's signature Art Deco Moviehouse, Hawke will receive the award.

"Ethan Hawke is an exceptional artist, a fantastic human being, and a true champion of independent cinemas. His fearlessness and unyielding curiosity have resulted in some of the most memorable films in contemporary cinema." - Coolidge Corner Theatre Executive Director & CEO Katherine Tallman.
