James the Seventh's Reign Began In Boston

James the Seventh's Reign Began In Boston

Rising rockstar James the Seventh visited Boston on the opening night of her first tour, supporting Valencia Grace. On March 25th, fans lined up throughout the venue, slinking up the stairs and down the block outside. Guests dressed in Grace-inspired black-and-white punk fashion flooded the venues. A blur of tutus, graphic eyeliner, striped sweaters, glitter, and ripped tights stopped by the merchandise booths for signed Polaroids and cheeky t-shirts.

First up was James the Seventh, who strutted out in medieval armor, complete with chainmail, black mesh, and statement jewelry. She dove into her eclectic, genre-bending discography, including an unreleased track called "Pity Fuck," set for release on April 10th. She switched between shredding on the bass and jumping around the stage, leading the audience in a call-and-response during "Mind Your Business," getting everyone to emphatically scream "mind your fucking business," a cathartic moment for fans. Tracks like "Shame" showcased her effortless ability to slide between smooth falsetto, gritty screams, and powerful belting. She closed out her set with the viral hit "Trauma Olympics," which has received cosigns from legends like Marina and Lady Gaga. She thanked Grace for bringing her on tour before skipping off stage.

Grace brought her style to the stage, with a spine covered in moss wrapped around the mic stand and two earthy wings on the floor. Soon after, the light flashed, and Grace strutted on stage. She sported a black-and-white striped dress, a lace-up corset top, thick chains, and her signature double bun hairstyle. She dove into the track "Opera," displaying her unique blend of opera and pop vocals. Her voice filled the room and captivated the audience immediately. All eyes were glued on Grace as they bounced to the catchy melodies, and she smiled ear to ear. The singer paused between tracks to sip out of a vintage silver teapot and asked if Boston was a freak before diving into "The Holy Trinity." Tracks like "S!ut" and "Super Elastic" held the energy high. This perfect double bill left fans craving a headline set from James the Seventh and a hope that Valencia Grace would return soon.
