Jessie Murph's Worldwide Hysteria Hits Boston

Genre-bending songstress Jessie Murph blew the roof off of Seaport's Leader Bank Pavilion during Worldwide Hysteria The Tour. The country-pop-rap star released her sophomore studio album Sex Hysteria in July, infusing an addictive Old Hollywood Elvis and Priscilla Presley aesthetic into the era. Fans dressed in baby pink and grey flooded into the venue to grab merchandise, such as a Y2K sweatshirt featuring Murph's silhouette bedazzled on the front.

Rapper Jorjiana set the electric tone for the night. She strutted out on stage with unbounded confidence and performed an array of her melodic tracks like "Elevator Spaghetti" and "Shark." Fans in the front row held up glittery letter posters to spell out her name, celebrating how this show marked Jorjiana's last stop on tour with Murph. Her DJ spun some classic 2010s hits, such as "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen and "Party in the U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus, uniting the crowd as everyone sang along. Toward the end of her set, she invited three guests on stage for a dance contest, asking the audience to judge by the volume of their cheers. Jorjiana shared her love for the third contestant, revealing she recognized them from every stop on the tour so far. She thanked everyone for coming early to see her set and escaped backstage.

A firework show on the neighboring harbor entertained the crowd between sets and was a fitting welcome for the glamorous singer. A whimsical pink set scaled the stage, complete with columns, flowing curtains, and carpeted platforms. The lights finally dimmed, and the venue released thunderous cheers. A spoken-word intro narrated by Murph played while dancers scurried around the stage, acting out scenes straight out of a Western film battle. Her final words were "you keep taking swings at nothing, eventually you hit blood" as the lights flashed red and revealed her bouffant-haired silhouette behind the curtain. She stepped into the spotlight with a baby blue studded leather two-piece set and dove into the addictive track "Gucci Mane."

She flashed a smile at fans who were singing along especially enthusiastically, beaming as they recited each word back to her. Her raspy and powerful voice immediately mesmerized the crowd. Dynamic choreography highlighted the uptempo instrumentals and Murph's stamina as she joined in to execute moves like a dramatic dip. She slowed it down on songs like "I Hope It Hurts" and "Ain't But a Thing," where a hauntingly beautiful side of her voice sparkled. She had the audience in the palm of her hand as she effortlessly blended that ache and raw emotion.

Murph made it her mission to ensure everyone had the best seat in the house. She dipped down to the barricade to hug fans and performed gripping stunts, including standing on her dancer's shoulders as he walked through the venue during songs like "Donuts." Murph's ability to foster an intimate connection with fans made the 5,000-cap venue feel like a private performance. She closed her set with the viral hit "Blue Strips," leaving Boston energized.
