Electro-pop pioneer PinkPantheress touched down stateside in Boston for a sold-out show at MGM Music Hall on May 12th in support of her new album Fancy That. The performance marked the penultimate North American show of the tour, and fans were buzzing with excitement. Fans decked out in the singer's signature blue and red plaid and British flag shirts rushed into the venue to secure the best spots for the show. Other fans waited in the merchandise line, which extended up over three flights of stairs, for cheeky designs like a t-shirt with a lace bra printed on the front. The preshow playlist consisted of PinkPantheress' inspirations, such as Imogen Heap, which hyped up the crowd.
First up was Cece Natalie, a bold pop star with a bratty persona that mixes the likes of Charli xcx and Addison Rae. She strutted around the stage in thigh-high boots, lace tights, and a plastic snake wrapped around her corset's strap, which she shared is named Francine Featherpen. Tracks like "754," "DOMINO," and "Like a taxi (Oh well)" showcased her knack for mixing soft vocals with dance club beats.

Soon after, the lights dimmed, and fans released thunderous cheers. A flight takeoff video played as the "Stateside" instrumental boomed in the speakers. Dancers in trench coats hit the stage, and PinkPantheress appeared silhouetted in the center. She made the right decision to kick off the show with one of her latest viral hits, as it brought fans' energy to 110%. She held the audience in the palm of her hand as she scaled the stage in crisp black skousers (a skirt on top of pants) and a red zip-up corset top. She paused between songs to chat with the audience, sharing stories about her Boston adventures trying oysters and how this crowd was officially the loudest on the tour.

Her set featured a plethora of costume changes with vibrant color palettes: blue tights, cherry red skirts, red capri leggings, a white tutu, a checkered bow top, and more. About halfway through the set, she emerged atop a platform in big feathery angel wings to perform her mesmerizing song from the 2023 Barbie soundtrack, "Angel." PinkPantheress' vocals floated through the venue, lifting everyone's spirits and keeping the energy high. Props like a bouquet she threw into the crowd during "The Aisle" added a personal touch of whimsy and excitement for fans hoping to catch it. Performances of songs like "Illegal" and "Girl Like Me" highlighted her knack for catchy melodies and danceable instrumentals. She weaved fan favorites and viral hits throughout the night, effortlessly maintaining her airy, smooth vocals throughout, a testament to her stage presence and stamina.
The singer crafted an unforgettable night of music and joy that transported Boston into her Y2K dream club. Make sure to catch PinkPantheress live before her run of shows and festival appearances end on August 22nd. Buy tickets here.
