The Beaches Visit Bean Town

Canadian rockstars, The Beaches, touched down in Bean Town for their first arena performance in the city. The band joined Louis Tomlinson for his How Did We Get Here? World Tour, which stopped at TD Garden in Boston on July 14. The quartet, comprised of Jordan Miller–lead singer and bassist, Kylie Miller–guitarist, Leandra Earl–guitarist, and Eliza Enman-McDaniel–drummer, is known for their sparkling melodies and punchy instrumentals. They skipped out on stage and dove into their explosive and joyous set, starting with the witty track "Takes One to Know One." Each of their looks displayed their personal style, with Jordan belting high notes in a grunge silver chain bralette and cargo pants, Kylie jumping around the stage in a leopard-print skirt with a black faux fur trim, Eliza rocking out in a mesh long sleeve black shirt, and to much fanfare, Leandra sporting a Bruins Jersey for number 88, David Pastrňák.

The band was recently thrust into the spotlight after their song "Edge of the Earth" was featured in the hit hockey romance television series Off Campus. In the show, one of the main characters, Hannah Wells, tells her love interest, Garrett Graham, that a live performance by The Beaches "will change your life," which was confirmed that night at TD Garden. Leandra gave a shoutout to Off Campus, acknowledging the arena was the "soon-to-be [home of] Garrett Graham," who was being scouted by The Bruins in the show, before dedicating the song to the beloved couple. The quartet fed off each other's energy the rest of the set, strutting around the giant stage and jamming out together each time they crossed paths.

Next up was English singer-songwriter Louis Tomlinson, who released his third solo record earlier this year. The former One Direction member has built a loyal following with his catchy, soulful pop tracks. The show marked his largest solo performance in the city to date. He performed an array of fan favorites and deep cuts, including "Lemonade," "Imposter," and "Palaces," as well as the beloved One Direction track "Night Changes."
