The Fray made a stop in Gilford, New Hampshire, during the final handful of shows on their Summer of Light Tour, and they brought an unforgettable night with them.

The show was incredible from start to finish. The lighting setup was nothing short of spectacular, and the band sounded absolutely amazing. The Fray were not shy about breaking out their biggest hits, spacing them throughout the set in a way that kept the crowd anticipating when the next one was going to begin.

These are the kinds of songs that can send shivers down your spine, especially with the crowd passionately singing every verse.

The Fray opened the night with “A Light That Waits,” performing through a haze of blue fog. From there, the band rolled into favorites like “Look After You” and “Over My Head (Cable Car)" in the first half.

Things got even more exciting during “Closer to Me,” when lead singer Joe King decided the stage was not quite enough. He made his way through the audience while continuing to sing, eventually running all the way up to the grass seating as his security team sprinted behind him trying to keep up.

When the song ended, King made his way back onto the stage and prepared to start the next song. Then, without warning, he stopped the music and pointed toward the crowd.

There was something happening near the front.

Speaking into his microphone, King excitedly announced that a couple had just gotten engaged. The crowd immediately erupted in cheers as he asked the newly engaged woman if she had said yes. The camera turned toward her, capturing her happily shaking her head while covering her face with her hands, completely overwhelmed with excitement.

It was a beautiful moment, and King decided there was only one appropriate way to follow it. He dedicated the next song to the couple and began playing “She Is.”

King, who took over as lead singer after Isaac Slade publicly left the band in 2022, sounded incredible throughout the night. He nailed the emotion, energy, and vibe that fans have come to know and love from The Fray, making each song feel just as powerful live as it does on record.

Dashboard Confessional opened the show for The Fray and sounded great as well. Despite a few minor technical issues that were likely barely noticeable to the crowd, the band worked through them without missing a beat. They also seemed to have a great rapport with the audience, making for a strong start to an already memorable night.
