Dreamy pop artist Khalid graced MGM Music Hall in Boston on May 29th. This show marks the midpoint of the It's Always Summer Somewhere Tour in support of his new album, after the sun goes down. The show was the perfect way to kickstart summer in the city, with fans buzzing with excitement for the night of euphoria ahead.

First up was boisterous pop star Lauv, who jumped around the stage in a striped blue button-up shirt and baggy distressed jeans. He performed an array of upbeat, danceable tracks, including his collab "i'm so tired..." with Troye Sivan, and got the whole crowd jumping during "Chasing Fire." His impressive falsetto and smooth vocals lulled the venue into a trance during more intimate moments, such as his track "Steal The Show" from the Disney-Pixar film Elemental.

Soon after, the lights dimmed again, and fans released thunderous cheers. Khalid appeared silhouetted atop a platform on the stage, opening with the powerful track "Motion." He strutted down to the front of the stage in a grey jumpsuit with bright pink hair and matching multicolored nails. Fans were instantly captivated by his charm, jumping and waving their hands to the beat. He sprinkled some of his classic hits like "Better" and "8TEEN" at the beginning of the set, transporting the venue back to their favorite memory of a warm summer night in 2017. A gaggle of dancers in sleek streetwear skipped out and fostered a house-party atmosphere, playing beer pong and Uno with gigantic cards.

Khalid's smooth voice mesmerized the crowd as he pointed to enthusiastic fans, waved, threw up some hand hearts, and savored the moment. The Y2K storytelling elements he wove throughout the night created a cohesive, high-energy performance. Before the song "please don't call (333)", a 90s ringtone blared from the speakers, and he pretended to have a phone call, sassily asking the caller to leave him alone so he could perform his show in Boston!

Khalid strutted the night away, sustaining effortless falsetto throughout the whole show, a testament to his stamina and stage presence. He added a soulful and passionate cover of "Fast Car" by Tracey Chapman to the setlist before ending the night with his beloved hit "Young Dumb & Broke."
